Let's say I just posted this to get a hat. What is our policy on such questions, either on Meta or on the main site?

    $\begingroup$ (Did you just post this to get a hat??) $\endgroup$ – Beastly Gerbil Dec 19 '16 at 15:47
  • $\begingroup$ @BeastlyGerbil Nope, I got the hat earlier by voting. Now I'm testing for secret ones with this :P $\endgroup$ – Mithical Dec 19 '16 at 15:48
  • $\begingroup$ Apparently "This is fine" $\endgroup$ – LeppyR64 Dec 19 '16 at 16:05

  • $\begingroup$ The tag winterbash does not exist. $\endgroup$ – EKons Dec 24 '16 at 11:42
  • $\begingroup$ @ΈρικΚωνσταντόπουλος It exists on meta ([meta-tag:winterbash] -> winterbash), just not on main. $\endgroup$ – wizzwizz4 Dec 27 '16 at 18:27
  • $\begingroup$ @wizzwizz4 No, I meant that only this question uses it. Sorry, I meant winterbash. $\endgroup$ – EKons Dec 27 '16 at 18:32
  • $\begingroup$ @ΈρικΚωνσταντόπουλος The tag exists on Meta Stack Exchange, so I assumed that it would be an acceptable tag here. $\endgroup$ – Mithical Dec 27 '16 at 18:41
  • $\begingroup$ @Mithrandir Why not? I didn't say you shouldn't use it, I just thought that you might have put it in by accident. $\endgroup$ – EKons Dec 27 '16 at 18:42
  • $\begingroup$ Do we really have a hat for asking puzzles? sings "Oompa loompa doompety doo I've got another puzzle for you..." $\endgroup$ – ABcDexter Dec 30 '16 at 13:48

    $\begingroup$ @ABcDexter if you ask it on the hour now... $\endgroup$ – Mithical Dec 30 '16 at 13:50
  • $\begingroup$ @Mithrandir Yes, sure, maybe on new year day. I am kinda busy doing nothing :) $\endgroup$ – ABcDexter Dec 30 '16 at 14:02

Our policy is that you are a terrible person. (not really, but it's a catchy hook)

Hat-seeking behavior, while fine in absentia, is no excuse for cluttering the site with low-quality posts or inconsequential edits. Earn your hats fairly, through the usual channels.

    $\begingroup$ There's very little we can actually do, except "c'mon, don't do that, please." $\endgroup$ – user20 Dec 19 '16 at 18:38
  • $\begingroup$ "inconsequential edits"... I've seen a ton of these popping up lately in the active question section. $\endgroup$ – Timmy Dec 21 '16 at 13:03
