A German chemist who decided to typeset his master’s thesis with TeX, swore a lot before getting a final output with XeLaTeX and lots of customisation, but is now absolutely flabbergasted on what TeX can actually do.
My PhD thesis followed in 2016/17. Again in XeLaTeX. Included a switch for blackletter typesetting.
Now I’m mainly using low-level stuff for everyday writing where needed. Probably not going to be much active here (but never was).
